Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General meeting will be held this Thursday, 21st May, and we need a good turnout to ensure we all have the chance to have a say in how the club is run.

Programme Notes May 2009

This is the time of year when we begin to wonder whether this summer will have a series of balmy Thursday evenings or, more likely, a series of wet ones. Yes, the Summer Programme time is drawing near. To explain to new members, during the months of June and July, those of us who don’t know how to stay at home on a Thursday evening gather up our camera equipment and make for an agreed meeting place. We try to get there for 7pm, in order to get the best of the light, but those who arrive later just wander around looking for signs of a small crowd having gone before them. After an hour and a half or so, we all gather in a local pub and drink, chat and, for some of us, eat. Some, of course, leave out the walk and turn up at the pub.

Last summer saw us at Greywell, Decoy Heath, Ovington, Hannington, Longparish, the Kennet and Avon Canal and Old Basing House. We also had our Barbecue in our garden at Pamber Heath. Other venues visited in the past have been Silchester and the Roman Wall, Kingsclere, Selborne, Winchester and Odiham.

We will be repeating the barbecue on June 25th, I have arranged for us to visit The Lake House gardens at Northington on June 11th, and Mike and I will lead another visit to Decoy Heath June 4th. I have also asked Keith Brant if he can organise another visit to the ruins at Basing House in July.

Meanwhile, if anyone has an idea of where we might go on any of the other Thursdays, please let me know. The only constraint is that it shouldn’t be too far for us to go, as many of you have to travel after work. The programme will be finalised at the Cheese and Wine evening and full details will then be circulated to everybody.
