DIGITAL PROJECTOR

Update 19th December 2006

With us having now used the digital projector on several club evenings I’m sure everyone agrees that it is one of the best models around; certainly the comments made by judges and others who visit many clubs, and have seen several projectors in recent months, seem to bear out we have a particularly good one.

The report at the time gave due praise to Cath’s hard work in getting the committee members moving to complete the application (not an easy task in itself!) but we also owe a vote of thanks to the sub-committee of Mike Farrow, Peter Watson and Lenn Quinn who were the decision makers as to exactly which model to buy, and also for Len’s work in understanding both the projector, the software we use on competition nights and the formulation of the guidance for submission of images for best effect using the projector.

Well done to all concerned.

GOOD NEWS FOR THE CLUB

27th March 2006

We are very pleased to be able to announce that our application to the Lottery Grant Fund has been successful!

We applied to them for sufficient funds to buy a digital projector, accessories and a copy of Photoshop CS, and we recently received confirmation they have granted our application in full.

The successful application was due to the efforts of our President, Cath Farrow, who has put in a lot of work researching what was needed then gathering all the information required by the Fund.

Cath’s comments:

The purchase of the new equipment will mark the start of a new era in the history of Basingstoke Camera Club. Now that there are so many people using digital cameras, we will be able to cater for everyone's needs, enabling digital camera users to see their images projected on a full sized screen, just as the film users do.

I would like to thank Sue Tapliss, the Curator of the Willis Museum, for agreeing to be our independent referee.

The purchase of the projector will undoubtedly be of great benefit to the club, and it is expected digital competitions and lectures will soon form a part of the club programme.
