Welcome to the June 2009 edition of the BCC E-News.

Exhibition at the Willis Museum

The Club is proud to have held the first exhibition in the newly refurbished Willis Museum at the top of town, and we owe a vote of thanks to Brian Burwood for the organising, and together with his small but dedicated team, arranging for the hanging of, the exhibition of members work in the new exhibition space

Summer Programme Reports

June 4th - Decoy Heath Nature Reserve

On a very pleasant evening about 20 or so members went along to Decoy Heath for this first evening session of the Summer Programme, and later retired to the Calleva Arms in Silchester once the sun had gone down and the midgies has come out!

A mixture of adders and dragonflies came under scrutiny, as well as teasels and other flowers, and a good time was had by all.

COMMUNICATIONS TO THE CLUB

Just a reminder Tallaght Photographic Society are holding their 19th International salon of photographic art with approval from the Photographic Society of America

This year is the 75 anniversary of the psa and we are awarding special 75th year gold medals in each section you can enter on lone at www.tpssalon.com just register and enter

Photo opportunities

Two opportunities for taking photographs this summer:

1. The Farleigh House Horse Driving Trials - 3 days when you can photograph a variety of events over the weekend of 12 - 14 June. There is an entrance fee, it was £5 the last time we went, but for that you can wander more or less at will and take photographs. The most exciting day is the Saturday. 2. The UK Wolf conservation Trust at Beenham has open days during the summer months, when people can go and see and photograph the wolves. See www.ukwolf.org

PHOTOCLINIC

This is a great opportunity to receive critique of your photos in a friendly, constructive and non-competitive arena so do consider coming along.  The next dates booked are:

The Photoclinic is held at the Jolly Farmer pub in Cliddesden, who kindly make their front room available to us.

How To Do It Group

Informal sessions in a member's house are held for members who want help with various skills related to producing and showing photographs.

This will be practical advice on topics such as how to use a digital camera, how to manipulate images in Photoshop and then print them, and how to mount your prints.

Look for the sign-up sheet or ask Mike or Cath.
