Welcome to the Febuary 2010 edition of the BCC E-News.

Open Exhibition 2010

The opening evening for our Annual Open Exhibition went without a hitch last Thursday, and was a most enjoyable event. The hard work is of course mainly done by Steve Bright, who has been the main producer of the show for several years (ably assisted by a small but devoted team of backroom staff), and thanks to him that the opening evening was such a success.

So our thanks go to Steve, for the tremendous efforts he has put in, particularly during his time as our President, and the behind the scenes work of his small band of helpers. The result has been another excellent advertisement for the club. So thanks to all who helped with the organising and putting on of the Opening Evening, and to everyone who entered.

If you haven’t yet seen our exhibition website, do spend a few minutes and have a look. The standard of entries seems higher than ever.

Viewfinders of Romsey are having a fundraising evening and will be welcoming Donald Bradshaw to the Jubilee Hall in Timsbury on March 23rd to give one of his exciting presentations. As most of you will already know, Donald has travelled extensively around the world and has compiled a number of lectures in different locations, using his stunning images of the wildlife, landscapes and people.

This one gives an insight into the landscape and wildlife of Madagascar, and should be a fascinating evening, including of course images of the lemur which is unique to the island.

Tickets may be obtained in advance or at the door on the night if space is available.

A message from the Southern Fed about Print Boxes

The closing date for the next order for PRINT BOXES is SATURDAY, 27th MARCH 2010.

It is expected that the boxes will be available for collection at the Club Reps meeting in May or possibly at Finals Day on 18th April.

You will not be surprised to see that the price has risen. However, Nomad has rationalized the pricing to some extent by removing the differential between similar sizes, e.g. 2½”? depth and 3”? depth cost the same. I would also like to point out that Nomad do give a discount on quantity. Obviously this cannot be reflected in the price of individual boxes but any ‘?profit’? is paid to the SPF, thus helping to keep Federation costs down.

SIZE COST

21" x 17" x 1 5/8" £21.50

21" x 17" x 2" £21.50

21" x 17" x 2.5" £22.00

21" x 17" x 3" £22.00

21" x 17" x 3.5" £22.50

21" x 17" x 4" £22.50

21" x 17" x 5" £23.00

21" x 17" x 6" £23.50

Handles can be supplied at an additional cost of £3.00.

Orders in writing and with cheques payable to J. PEARSON, to

Mrs. Jennie Pearson,

6, Inhams Road, Holybourne, ALTON, Hants. GU34 4EU.

BEFORE SATURDAY, 27th MARCH 2010.
