Issue No. 27 - February 2009

Welcome to the February 2009 edition of the BCC E-News.

The 2009 Open Exhibition is now complete, and a very fine job was done once again by Steve Bright, to whom we all owe a tremendous vote of thanks for the amount of hard work he put in again this year. Everything went very smoothly, from the on-line entry system to the showing on the opening night. So well done to Steve for the club’s most successful exhibition yet.

Here’s a couple of snaps of happy winners picking up their awards. Thanks to Mark O’Leary for the photos.

This interesting snippett may not be news, but the exhibition entries show that Mike Birbeck is now an FBPPA and Gillian is an ARPS. Well done to these long standing members.

Photography Tips

Follow the link below for another batch of little lessons we all think we know (but could perhaps do with a bit of a reminder!)

Pop photo

Photographers, outdoor shooting, and the law.

The Campaign For Photographers’ Rights has had some success in that new guidelines have been issued to the police regarding photography in public places. These guidelines clarify that photography is a perfectly legal pastime, and that only in cases of suspected terrorism do the poilce have the power to prevent a photographer going about their business/hobby. Section 2.8 is most relevant to us as photographers.
