Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year As we approach 2010 this seems a good time to reflect on the state of the club when compared to how we were a decade ago, just before the turn of the century, which, thinking back, was a difficult time for the club, with, like many camera clubs, falling membership and what seemed like the end of traditional photography. After all, the new-fangled digital cameras were making photography more of a point and shoot game rather than the skillful art or craft which we perceived it to be. How wrong could we be? The club is now thriving, with many more members than we could have imagined 10 years ago. The reason for this seems to have been the onset of the thing which we dreaded most - Digital Imaging!! There has been some determined work from a number of members to keep the club going in the meantime, but with the help of a National Lottery grant for the digital projector and laptop, we have been able to not just keep up with, but lead the way, for other camera clubs in our area. As such Basingstoke Camera Club is going from strength to strength and this bodes well for the future.
