Issue No. 21 -August 2008

Welcome to the August 2008 edition of the BCC E-News.

With September rapidly approaching it’s time to look forward to the coming camera club season. And the competitions, of course. Now there have been some changes to the competition rules for this year so do please make sure you’ve read them! If you need a refresher or haven’t yet seen them at all you can do by clicking here.

SUMMER EXHIBITION

A brief report from Brian:

Twenty two members made submissions being a total of eighty eight prints, which may well be a record number for a club exhibition. I had many favourable comments from people who saw the exhibition.

John Buttress produced cards giving details of the club and a large number were taken, so hopefully the exhibition will lead to an increase in club membership.

Although the exhibition was quite well received the new way of mounting the prints on the exhibition boards, I am afraid was not a total success, as a number of prints came unstuck, leading to damaged mounts on one or two prints.

I would like to thank every body who submitted work and a great big thank you to all those who turned up to help when the exhibition was mounted.

Summer Programme Reports

Kennet and Avon Canal, Woolhampton - July 24th

A good number turned out although we didn’t meet till the end of the evening in the main.  A warm and sunny evening allowed us to amble up and down the canal or wander around the locality with its couple of lakes, local village and railway all offering photo opportunities. The pub proved to be a very popular spot on this balmy evening but there was plenty parking and the food and beer were good,

Basing House, Old Basing - July 31st

A good turnout again for this evening, with members allowed to roam freely through the grounds of Basing House.  The weather held on just about long enough, but when it started to rain about half eight an executive decision was made to change he pub as the Crown was nearer!  Another splendid evening to round off the Summer Programme.

Chineham Exhibition

Once again we will be able to hold an Exhibition in Chineham Library thanks to the help of the manager, Debbie Jeffs.

This exhibition is different from others you may enter in that it is for club members only and contributors have a free choice of subject matter. The intention is for photographs the photographer would like to show to be displayed free of categorisation or judging.  The only rule is they must be suitable for family viewing in this public space.

Unfortunately due to the space available being quite small members will be restricted to a maximum of 2 prints each. Further details will be advised in the September issue of your “favourite e-newsletter”.

The exhibition dates will be from Saturday 27th September to Saturday 11th October.
